SILICA DUST INFORMATION SHEET

SILICA DUST
The Construction Safety Partnership Advisory Committee (CSPAC)works to promote Health and Safety on Construction sites.
The CSPAC has identified five key areas to focus on between 2022 and 2024.
BATU Deputy General Secretary Andy Smith as chairman of objective five confirms one of our goals is to highlight the Dangers of SILICA DUST.
Silica dust (crystalline silica) is found in some stone, rock, sand, gravel and clay. The most common form is quartz. Silica dust can also be found in the following products: Bricks, tiles, concrete, and some plastic materials.
When these materials are worked on, silica is released as a fine dust known as respirable crystalline silica or silica dust.
Silica dust can cause serious lung disease and cancer.
The CSPAC has produced an information sheet to raise awareness about Silica Dust.
The information sheet below will be distributed to sites and other relevant industries shortly.
STAY SAFE.
